The live webcam stream above shows various perspectives of the three Regional Class Research Vessels being built by Oregon State University at Gulf Island Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana , United States . The project involving these three new research vessels will be part of the University-Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The R/V Taani, the first vessel, will operate out of Oregon State University on the West Coast. The University of Rhode Island will operate the second vessel, which will be known as the R/V Narragansett Dawn. The University of Southern Mississippi and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium will operate the third ship, the R/V Gilbert R. Mason.
